Bob Probert Ride surpasses $1 million raised for local Cardiac Services
April 24, 2019
WINDSOR, ON - 2019 marks the 9th year of the Bob Probert Ride and this year's ride promises to be even better with an additional level of excitement and pride! At today's launch, the Probert family was joined by friends, family and staff of Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare to announce that heading into Ride #9, funds raised to date have officially surpassed the $1 million mark! With sights set on achieving this milestone by year 10, the Probert team is beyond thrilled to be ahead of schedule and to continue to raise significant funds for Cardiac Services in Windsor-Essex.
"Each year I get the chance to thank all of the amazing supporters, sponsors, and volunteers involved in our Dad's ride. Without you this Ride would not be a success, to the tune of over $1 million!" said Tierney, one of Bob's daughters. "As they like to say at Hôtel-Dieu Grace...we truly are changing lives together. They say it because it's true - each of you have made a big difference in the quality of care and recovery services available to those dealing with cardiac-related health issues."
Also announced at today's launch was this year's Ride Captains. Leading the field of over 1,200 participants will be two hometown boys, Edmonton Oiler, Zack Kassian and Darren 'Bruiser' Banks. Both of these Ride Captains join an impressive list of past captains including: Chris Chelios, Sheldon Kennedy, Tony Amonte, Jacqui MacInnes-Wood, Darren McCarty, Ryan Vandenbusche, Dave Hutchison, Scott Parker, and Meltdown.
As always, the Ride will support local Cardiac Wellness programs, specifically the development of expanded Cardiac Services at a satellite location in the revamped Tecumseh Sportsplex. "We are very excited that the plan of opening a third satellite location in the Tecumseh area in the near future will help us reach a greater number of people in our community," said Bill Marra, Vice President External Affairs and Executive Director of the Changing Lives Together Foundation.
Due to the incredible success and positive response from last year, this year's Ride will once again include stops at the Fort Fun Centre, Colchester Bar and Grill, Wolfhead Distillery, and returns to the final stop at the Ciociaro Club where riders and their passengers will be able to enjoy refreshments and purchase food. The Ride takes place on Sunday, June 23rd. Registration and online donations are now open at the Probert Ride website.
