Mark Winterton, Director
Mark Winterton served as the City Engineer and Commissioner of Infrastructure at the Corporation of the City of Windsor from 2015 to 2021, in charge of public works, traffic, pollution control, engineering, Transit Windsor, and facilities. Over his long-standing career of 30+ years, Mark worked on and oversaw numerous major projects including the Wellington, Walker, and Howard Grade Separations; East Riverside Development; Windsor Waterfront; New City Hall, New Jackson Park Greenhouse, WFCU Center, and Pool as well as hundreds of sewer, road and active transportation projects, one of which was the new bus terminal at HDGH! In addition to projects, Mark was instrumental in the completion of the Sewer Master Plan which will serve as a guideline for new infrastructure projects for the next 50+ years.
Born and raised in Windsor-Essex, Mark is a graduate of Riverside Secondary School and the University of Windsor, earning his Professional Engineer designation and Bachelor of Business Administration. He has always been active in the community as a volunteer currently serving on the Professional Engineers of Ontario Discipline Committee, as Past Chair of the Regional Public Works Commissioners of Ontario, and community member of the HDGH Mission and People Committee for the past 10 years. Mark was recently recognized as the 2022 Engineer of the Year for the Windsor-Essex chapter of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and the 2021 Municipal Engineer of the Year by the Municipal Engineers Association.
Mark is married to his wife Federica Nazzani and together, they enjoy traveling and family time. In his spare time, Mark enjoys playing golf, tennis, and hockey.
