The Canadian Mental Health Association (‘CMHA-WECB’) and Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare (‘HDGH’) have a long standing history of serving the community and those who experience mental health illness. Both organizations are committed to the delivery of mental health services and enhancing the level of coordination, communication and collaboration between our two organizations. The organizations have joined to create a shared Director, with the goal of leading integration and alignment of services to achieve optimal client care at both the system and operational and patient care level.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the CEO, CMHA-WECB and the Vice President of Mental Health and Addictions - HDGH, this leadership position is responsible for operational oversight across two organizations, ensuring the effective day to day operation of all client service delivery functions of the organizations.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Planning and organizational abilities to lead and facilitate agency wide program development and operations
- Human resources management skills to supervise management staff and to motivate staff at all levels of the organization
- Extensive knowledge of serious mental illness and trends in the provision of support services to people with such illnesses, including their impact upon personality, social aspects of mental and emotional disturbances with the population
- Extensive knowledge of the support/treatment services network and of issues which will impact on this network
- Demonstrated clinical consultation excellence in the delivery of consumer-centred community mental health services
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and techniques of case management of mental illness and their application to provide support to management staff
- Ability to determine and prioritize to schedule multiple tasks over numerous sites
- Excellent communication skills – listens well, approaches problems calmly and ask questions to understand the issue prior to taking action
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm in high pressure situations and provide clear direction to reporting staff
- Demonstrated analytical/problem solving and negotiation skills
- Maintains composure even in tense or difficult situation always balancing the needs of the client or staff member with the overall needs of the organization.
- Takes a strategic approach to problems, always considering the implication of decisions on agency goals.
- Practices effective conflict resolution when faced with conflict between leadership team members.
- Demonstrated budget management experience
- Familiar with both community and hospital systems
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Registered Nurse B.Sc.N or Related Discipline – Required
- Minimum of 8 years of advanced practice and leadership experience in community and hospital mental health service delivery organization at a senior leadership level – Required
- Canadian Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing or Related Certification – Preferred
- Certification in management or leadership at a senior management level – Preferred
· Experience coaching and developing teams to high levels of performance and accountability
- Proven ability to foster and sustain strong working relations amongst all levels of employees, leadership and union partners
- French Language proficiency is considered an asset
